Frequently Asked Questions

Meal Storage & Preparation

How should I store the meals once I receive them?

Store the meals in the refrigerator as soon as they arrive.

Can I freeze the meals for later?

We generally don’t recommend freezing our meals, as it can affect the overall quality and freshness. However, if you think you won’t be able to enjoy them before their expiration date, try to transfer them to the freezer as soon as possible. We do advise against freezing salads, as it can negatively impact the texture of fresh leafy greens, so we recommend you plan to enjoy those meals first after receiving your box. For best results, consume frozen meals within a few weeks after freezing.

How long will the meals stay fresh?

Our meals typically stay fresh for several days when stored in the refrigerator immediately after arrival. Check the meal container for specific use-by dates. We do recommend consuming salads and meals with fresh leafy greens first for optimal flavor. These meals are marked with an “Enjoy First!” icon on the packaging for easy identification. If you feel something isn't as fresh as it should be upon arrival, please reach out to our customer service team using the contact us form, or emailing support@wholeharvest.com

What’s the best way to reheat the meals?

Instructions for reheating are provided on the label of each meal, but here is a quick overview of our suggested methods:

Microwave: Our preferred method is the microwave - this is the quickest way to get our healthy, chef-prepared meals ready fast! The food trays are all microwave safe and the film self-vents while cooking, so you don’t need to remove or pierce it. Place in the microwave for 2-3 minutes. You may see the film expanding, or even hear some sizzling while it cooks. This is normal, and means the film is venting the way it is supposed to! When time is up, remove from the microwave and peel the film back. We recommend transferring the meal to a plate for the ultimate experience. Season to taste if preferred, and enjoy!

Stovetop/Oven: You may also reheat the meals on the stovetop using a skillet, or in the oven but please transfer to an oven-safe dish first. Heat until the food reaches an internal temperature of 165 F, transfer to a plate, season to taste if preferred, and enjoy!

Some meals may be eaten cold, such as salads or our Buddha Bowl!
